Host institution: Tokyo Institute of Technology

(November 2001 - November 2003)

My Research and Life in Japan as a JSPS Fellow

Funded by the JSPS, I worked in the Department of Mechanical and Control Systems Engineering at the Tokyo Institute of Technology from November 2001 to December 2003. In this talk, as a former JSPS fellow I will speak about my research and life in Japan. I will outline my research topics and background. The research group in Japan with the host professor will also be briefly introduced. In addition I will particularly talk about my feelings about the benefits of researching in Japan. From my viewpoints, the JSPS institution is viewed as an opportunity to get funded for foreign and domestic researchers, a research platform to conduct the researches of your interests, a window to know Japan and its cultures, and a bridge to establish working relations and contacts with researchers and colleagues in Japan. Moreover, during your stay in Japan you could make many new Japanese friends and know more about Japanese people and what they are thinking. Finally, some advices are given to the potential JSPS fellows of future--/The JSPS will be absolutely one of your best choice if you want to develop your career and have a fully different culture and environment after your graduation, though there will be many challenges.
