Handbook of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT): Guidance

About this book: The book details the examination and assessment of health status among tobacco addicts in order to assess their risk of morbidity and mortality through cancer and cardio-vascular disease. It also contains instructions on the setting up of, monitoring and follow-up schedules for clinicians and allied health professionals involved in nicotine replacement therapy (NRT). It illustrates methods for conducting research in tobacco related addictions by using Cotinine biomarkers in urine, monitoring CO level, assessment of lung Function Test (Spirometer) and age-adjusted macular degeneration (AMD).  It is also useful for trainers who want to be involved in developing counseling and screening services for cancer prevention.  The book includes several updated and authenticated assessment methods (with formats) such as Fagerstrom Test for Nicotine Dependence (FTND)  for severity assessment of nicotine addiction, including oral health assessment among tobacco addicts.
