A special colloquium at the National Museum of Ethnology, Japan, titled "Thinking about an anthropology of care: A Discussion with F. Aulino and J. Danely."
This colloquium was based on two projects; “An Anthropological Study on Reorganization of Care in the Post-Welfare Era,” a research project funded by JSPS, and “An Anthropological Study on the Flexible Interface of Family with Society,” a Minpaku joint research project, 9-10 December, 2017.

2018 SSRC Abe Fellowship for project ‘Comparison of older ex-offender resettlement and community-based organizations for reducing recidivism in Japan and in the United Kingdom’. This project will use ethnographic methods to examine the intersection of social/demographic change, criminal law, and welfare policy in the lives of older men who have been released from prison but who lack family support and who are most at risk of re-offending.
