JSPS London Symposium Series
Research Funding Seminar at University of Brighton
On 13 May, as part of a week of activities to celebrate the 150th anniversary of University of Brighton,
a seminar was held there for university faculty members from East Sussex universities to discuss issues related
to university research funding.
JSPS London Office Director, Prof. Yuko Furukawa and Mr. Atsushi Arakawa, Director, Paris Office, Japan Science and Technology Agency, as well as Dr. Hans Hagen of the Royal Society, were among the speakers invited to give presentations. From the point of view of their respective organizations, they each gave a presentation on Anglo-Japanese scientific exchange and information on current funding conditions. This evoked considerable interest among the attendees as a very interactive Q+A session followed with further time allowed for potential candidates to approach JSPS staff with enquires about applying for JSPS Fellowships.
