Terms of Funding

An international air ticket and daily allowance for the symposium for the main speakers from Japan (up to 5 people) will be provided. A separate allowance will be provided by JSPS Tokyo head office to cover travel between the invited speaker’s institution and nearest airport in Japan. If involvement of PhD students or postdoctoral researchers is planned, please consult with JSPS London. An example of such involvement could be a side or elevator session to give these researchers an opportunity to explain about their work and facilitate interaction with senior researchers.  If the organiser would like to invite PhD students or postdoctoral researchers from Japan who are not already supported by a JSPS programme, please submit their CV, publication list and brief explanation of why they have been chosen as an invited speaker, altogether one A4 page maximum for each person, to JSPS London.

On days around the symposium a daily allowance can be provided to the speakers being supported by JSPS to prepare for the event and engage in academic activities that would enable outputs to be possible after the symposium. The level of such support will be considered on a case-by-case basis and can be discussed with JSPS London once confirmation of the Symposium Scheme Award has been given.
