Science Foundation Ireland recently launched a call for proposals to their ‘SFI International Strategic Cooperation Award 2013’.
A key goal of SFI is to build strategic partnerships to perform cutting-edge scientific research, encourage industry‐informed research, and foster academic‐industry interactions to build a competitive advantage for Ireland. The ISCA programme supports new and existing research-based collaborations between Ireland’s Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) and partner organisations. Three partner countries were selected for the inaugural year of the ISCA programme in 2012 – Brazil, China and India.
This year’s call provides the opportunity for the 2012-funded consortia (working with institutions in Brazil, China & India) to apply for an award of up to €500,000 over a period of 12 months. In addition, Japan has been included as a new partner country for the 2013 call. Funding of up to €1,000,000 over a period of 24 months will be made available for a new consortium of Irish research bodies to work with institutions in Japan.
Co-ordinated institutional Expressions of Interest have been submitted by individual Eligible Research Bodies in the Republic of Ireland who are interested in forming new consortia to submit applications to partner with Institutions in Japan. Research bodies are now in the process of preparing full proposals, which are due to be submitted to SFI by the 29th of August 2013.
Researchers or institutions interested in getting involved in proposals to the ISCA 2013 Programme are encouraged to make contact with research offices in Irish research bodies.
