Overseas Research Fellowships

Under this program, fellowships are awarded to Japanese postdoctoral researchers at early stages of their career for conducting research at foreign universities or research institutions for a period of two years. The fellowship covers travel expenses, a stipend, and a research grant.

Complete the e-application process on the JSPS Tokyo website.

Applicants are required to apply either through their affiliated institutions or drectly to JSPS. Please look at the JSPS Tokyo's website (only the Japanese version is available.)

1) Application through an Institution

Deadline for sending applications on the e-application system: 7 May 2018 17:00 (Japan Standard Time)

Application Period for submitting paper-based documents (other than e-application documents): 7 May 2018-10 May 2018 17:00 (Japan Standard Time) 

* Please notice that this period is for the administrative sections of the institutions in Japan to submit application documents to JSPS Tokyo. Each applicants should follow the instructions from their institutions regarding an earlier internal deadline to collect these documents.

2) Personal Application

Deadline for sending applications on the e-application system: 7 May 2018 17:00 (Japan Standard Time)
Coverage of
Fellowship

1) International return flight tickets
2) Accommodation fees and research costs (The amount depends on the country the fellow will visit, ranging from 4.5 million to 6.2 million Japanese yen per year.)

3) Child allowance(only RRA program)
 (Equivalent of 10% of Fellow's maintenance allowance and airfare for each accompanying child)
