UK nationals for 2019 MEXT Postgraduate Scholarship Programme

The Embassy of Japan in London is now accepting applications from UK nationals for 2019 MEXT Postgraduate Scholarship Programme.
Application documents should be submitted by post to the Embassy to arrive no later than Friday 1 June 2018 by 5pm (GMT).
Scholarships can start from either April 2019 for 2 years or September/October for 18 months, including 6 months of Japanese language education.
Value of award: Return air fare, school fees and a monthly grant of 143,000 yen (subject to change) will be provided.
This award is offered to British nationals who hold a minimum of a bachelor's degree, are under the age of 35 and who wish to study or do research in Japan. (Those with a nationality other than British who wish to apply should contact the Embassy of Japan in their home country.)
No knowledge of Japanese language is necessary for many subjects. Awardees can pursue study or research in any field so long as it is related to their field of expertise or previous study.
Candidates are encouraged to establish contacts with Japanese academics in their field in order to list three faculties of Japanese universities of their choice when applying for the scholarship.
