JSPS London co-organised the workshop with the UK Academy of Medical Sciences on 16-17 October 2024, focusing on how to improve the resilience of health and public health systems in light of climate and environmental change. The workshop was attended by more than 40 researchers based in UK and Japan as well as related policy-makers.
The aims of the workshop were to:
・Bring together multisectoral expertise across the fields of climate and health, public health systems resilience, health inequalities, and planetary health
・Comprehensively identify and share country-specific initiative successes and challenges, knowledge, and expertise relating to this to learn from these and how they can be applied in Japan and the UK
・Understand where knowledge and research gaps lie and identify opportunities to address these in both countries
・Provide an opportunity for networking and a platform to share experiences between experts from Japan, the UK and internationally, and to identify the added benefit of international collaboration for this topic
