FY2027 Call for JSPS Postdoctoral Fellowships for Research in Japan

Application deadline: 5 p.m. on August 28, 2026 (JST)

Applications should be sent to JSPS Tokyo via a host institution in Japan.

Fellowships are expected to commence between 1st April to 30th September 2027

This fellowship provides the opportunity for researchers based outside of Japan to conduct collaborative research activities with leading research groups at Japanese universities and research institutions for visits of between 12 to 24 months.

Eligible applicant need to have finished their PhD at the time of applying to start their fellowship in Japan or have obtained their PhD on or after 2nd April 2021.

Open to all research fields.

Please note that the duration of the fellowship may not be divided into multiple stays. 

*Please be aware the internal deadline set by the host institution to collect an application and forward this to JSPS Tokyo will be earlier. The JSPS Tokyo electronic application system will accept applications from July 2026.*
