　独立行政法人日本学術振興会(JSPS)ではこれまで多様な学術国際事業を実施しており、世界各地にJSPS国際事業経験者を中心とした研究者のコミュニティ（同窓会）※1が設立されています。このうち、JSPSロンドン研究連絡センターでは、日英間の学術交流の推進に加え、JSPS英国・アイルランド同窓会や在英日本人研究者（JBUK: Japanese Researchers Based in the U.K.）ネットワーク等の研究者ネットワークの形成、維持・強化を支援してまいりました。

　他方、外務省では、海外在住の研究者同士や日本との連携を強化することが、二国間協力の深化、ひいては日本の国力強化につながるという考えから、多数の日本人の研究者が所在する地域を管轄する在外公館において、その管轄地域で活躍する日本人PI（Principal Investigator：大学等における研究主宰・責任者）情報のリスト化に取り組んでおり、在英国日本国大使館においても、「PIマップ」として英国において日本とのつながりが深い在英日本人PIの情報がリスト化されています。

　このような背景のもと、JSPSの学術国際事業を通じて築き上げられてきたネットワークをさらに発展させ、日本とのつながりを一層強化し、学術研究交流を活性化することを目的として、このたびJSPSロンドン研究連絡センターでは外務省PIマップと対をなす取り組みとして、JSPSとしては初めて英国・アイルランドPIリストを作成いたしました。

　本リストは、英国・アイルランドの研究機関に所属し、かつ、JSPSの外国人研究者招へい事業にて渡日経験のある研究者のうち、特に日本との新たな共同研究の実施に積極的な意向を持つ方で構成されていますので、是非新たな研究交流ネットワークの構築、国際共同研究、産学官連携等にご活用ください。また、当リストを活用して新たな共同研究に繋がった等の事例がありましたら、当センター(lon-info●overseas.jsps.go.jp : ●を@に置き換えてご利用ください)までご共有頂けますと幸いです。

※1 研究者コミュニティ（同窓会）ネットワーク：

JSPSの事業により来日経験のある外国人研究者が、フェロー シップ終了後も外国人・日本人研究者とのネットワークを維持・発展できるよう、JSPSは事業経験者による研究者コミュニティ（同窓会）の形成を支援しています。現在、日本国外に21の同窓会が認定され、世界各地で約7,300人が日本との架け橋として活動しています。各国のJSPS同窓会の詳細は、以下のURL（英語サイト）をご覧ください。

　JSPS has been conducting a range of international programmes and fostering the researcher alumni communities※1 all around the world that comprises the researchers who had participated in the JSPS international programmes. JSPS London Office also has supported the formation and strengthening of researcher networks, including the JSPS Alumni Association of the UK and the Republic of Ireland  and JBUK: Japanese Researchers Based in the UK.

　Meanwhile, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan has published the “PI Map”(a list of Japanese principal investigators in the UK) on the web site of the Embassy of Japan in the UK, with the aim to strengthen connection between Japanese researchers based in the UK and those in Japan.

    In this context, as a first initiative of its kind for JSPS, JSPS London Office has created “the UK/Ireland PI List”, in cooperation with the Alumni members and participants of JSPS international programmes as a new initiative to further strengthen the linkage and foster the academic collaboration between Japan and the UK and Ireland.

　This list consists of the researchers based in the UK/Ireland who have previously visited Japan under the JSPS International Fellowships Programme and are keen to start new collaborations with researchers in Japan.

　We at JSPS London office sincerely hope that this list will contribute to the formation of new researcher network, international research collaboration, and industry-academia partnerships. We appreciate if you could inform us when the utilisation of the list leads to those desired outcomes.

※1　JSPS Researcher Community Network(Alumni Association)

JSPS supports the establishment of researcher communities (alumni associations) to help overseas researchers who have come to Japan under JSPS programs maintain and further develop their networks with both international and Japanese researchers after their fellowships. As of now, 21 alumni associations have been established overseas with official recognition from JSPS, and approximately 7,300 members are actively serving as bridges between Japan and their respective countries.
