Program Outline:
The JSPS Summer Program Fellowship offers the opportunity for pre/postdoctoral researchers to receive an orientation on Japanese language and culture and research systems as well as pursue research under the guidance of host researchers at Japanese universities and research institutes over a period of two months during the summer. The orientation will take place at the Graduate University for Advanced Studies (SOKENDAI).
Eligibility:
Applicants should be a British national or a permanent resident of the UK and at the time the Summer Program goes into effect either be enrolled in a PhD or MPhil course at a UK university or have obtained their PhD from a UK university within the last 6 years (on or after 2 April 2021). The candidate must also be based in the UK for research purposes as of 1 April 2027. Candidates of more than one nationality may not apply through more than one nominating authority.
Please note:
Candidates with a residential address in Japan at the time of the application deadline are not eligible.
Candidates of Japanese nationality are not eligible, even if they hold a permanent residency status in the UK.
Research Remit:
All fields within the natural and physical sciences and the humanities and social sciences are included under this program.
Program Duration:
2-month fixed period from 14 June through to 24 August 2027.
